BA (Hons) Content Creation - a three year degree that empowers you to craft bold, original and impactful digital content across a range of platforms, combining storytelling, strategy and creativity to shape the future of media. Our BA (Hons) Content Creation degree offers a rigorous and practice-led exploration of contemporary digital communication and storytelling. Rooted in our ethos of creative exploration, innovation and critical inquiry, this course will prepare you to develop content across a range of digital platforms and media environments. In an age defined by rapid technological and cultural change, the ability to communicate meaningfully through digital content has become essential in all industry sectors. This fast-paced, industry-oriented programme will equip you with the creative, technical, and analytical skills required to engage audiences and shape narratives through visual and interactive media. Using the latest technology and software tools, you will learn to create content across multiple media forms, including moving image, photography, audio, animation, and written communication. Informed by the principles of marketing, branding and business development, you will explore audience engagement, data-informed content planning and platform-specific production. Through experimentation and adaptive learning, you will explore how digital tools and technologies such as AI, immersive media, and interactive design can extend creative practice and reframe the relationship between maker and audience. Project-based learning is at the core of the course. Working on industry briefs and collaborative projects, often beyond the university campus in real-world environments and at live events, you will gain experience of commercial production workflows and client engagement. Access to the university’s extensive industry links will provide opportunities for work placements and internships, support the development of your transferrable skills and the cultivation of your own professional networks. Academic and contextual studies will underpin this practical work, allowing you to interrogate the political, social, and ethical dimensions of content creation. Developing a critically informed understanding of the industry and the evolving digital landscape, you will consider how media influences perception and behaviour, and how responsible, inclusive storytelling can foster positive change. This course will prepare you to join the next generation of digital creativity. Throughout your 3 years of structured learning you will work towards the development of a portfolio of work, enabling you to articulate your creative identity and demonstrate your readiness for employment or postgraduate study. Graduates from this course emerge as adaptable and critically engaged practitioners prepared for a wide range of creative and strategic roles, including content creator, social media manager, digital producer, brand strategist, videographer, and freelance creative. You will graduate with the confidence, versatility, and insight required to contribute meaningfully to the evolving global landscape of digital media and creative communication.

The city has excellent travel links via car, train and ferry, with direct train services to London Paddington and the rest of the country and easy access to three nearby airports (Bristol, Newquay and Exeter). Plymouth is the gateway to the South West of England and is approximately 3 hours from London by train. The best airport to fly into is London Heathrow, which has a direct rail line to Paddington station. We need to find out about your creative potential, your abilities and idiosyncrasies, so we will invite you to talk about your work with a member of our HE academic team. You can tell us about your aspirations, and why you want to study at the university. It is also a good moment to find out what we can offer you. We encourage you to visit the university, so that you can see our facilities, meet our teaching and technical staff, and discuss any other queries you may have; however we appreciate this may not be possible, and are happy to talk to you via an online platform (such as Google Meet or similar). You will have the opportunity to submit your portfolio digitally, or in person at one of our Applicant Experience Days. At an Applicant Experience Day, you'll also get the chance to discuss your portfolio with a member of our academic team.
