Interested in pursuing a career in engineering, but haven’t formally studied the subject before? Or perhaps you’re looking to make an exciting career change? This Engineering Foundation Year course is ideal if you don’t have the usual academic qualifications to study at a degree level. It provides you with a strong foundational understanding of key areas of mathematics and engineering. The Foundation Year isn’t a stand-alone course; it provides introductory level study, and leads to the following: Computing: Computing BSc(Hons), Computer Science BSc(Hons), Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence BSc(Hons), Computer Science with Cyber Security BSc(Hons), Computer Science with Games Programming BSc(Hons), Information Technology BSc(Hons), Software Engineering BSc(Hons). Engineering: Automotive and Motorsport Engineering BEng(Hons), Civil Engineering BEng (Hons) Electronic and Electrical Engineering BEng(Hons), Electronic and Communication Engineering BEng(Hons), Electronic Engineering and Computer Systems BEng(Hons), Mechanical Engineering BEng(Hons), Mechatronic Engineering BEng(Hons). Games Development: Games Development (Production) BSc(Hons). Maths: Mathematics BSc(Hons). Music Technology: Sound Engineering and Music Production BSc(Hons). To progress to a degree, you must gain an average mark of 40 per cent, and have passed each component of your Foundation Year. If you’re a home student, on completion of the Engineering Foundation Year, you’ll automatically be considered for a £1,000 scholarship towards the cost of your tuition fees, subject to passing specified eligibility criteria. Assessment method

Qualification requirements

Other suitable skills or experience will be considered. In addition you must have GCSE Maths at grade 4 or above, or grade C or above if awarded under the previous GCSE grading scheme. English language requirements

If your first language is not English, you will need to meet the minimum requirements of an English Language qualification. The minimum for IELTS is 6.0 overall with no element lower than 5.5, or equivalent will be considered acceptable.
