Course summary
Part of the medical team helping a mother to regain movement after a stroke. Getting an athlete back on the pitch after tearing their anterior cruciate ligament. Easing a 4 year's old long-term breathing problems, caused by cystic fibrosis. All of these scenarios have one thing in common; a physiotherapist. Amongst a team of skilled healthcare professionals – including doctors and nurses – physiotherapists independently identify, assess and analyse physical problems caused by injury, illness or ageing and treat them by taking a holistic approach using skills such as manual therapy, exercise or therapeutic handling. Based in our Department of Health Professions, our foundation year programme incorporates the core values of the NHS constitution to help prepare you for the challenges of working as a physiotherapist in contemporary healthcare. You’ll build a strong foundation in key areas like human sciences, research, and professional skills, while developing the academic confidence and study techniques essential for university-level learning. With innovative teaching methods and support, you’ll explore a range of health and wellbeing topics, helping you to understand the role of physiotherapy in addressing real-world health challenges. After successfully completing the Foundation Year (Level 3), you’ll progress onto our BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy programme, continuing through Levels 4, 5 and 6. Features and benefits
