The CertHE in Applied Computing provides students with an engaging and accessible academic experience, designed to build confidence, foundational technical knowledge, and practical digital skills. Whether students are undertaking the CertHE as a stand-alone qualification or as a steppingstone towards further academic study at Level 5 (such as progression to the BSc (Hons) Applied Computing at DMU), the focus is on developing the core competencies required for success in both academic and professional contexts. The course comprises four 30-credit Level 4 modules that cover key areas of computing: • Foundations of Computing • Programming in Python • Data Analytics and Statistics • Information Systems Analysis and Design These modules introduce students to essential topics such as software development, problem- solving, data handling, and systems thinking, while embedding a strong awareness of ethical computing practice and the real-world application of technology.
