Course summary

Advances in technology are yielding smaller and higher-performance computer systems permeating into a wide range of applications, from communication systems to consumer products and common household appliances. Computer engineering encompasses the principles, methods, and modern tools for the design and implementation of computing systems. Our MSc Computer Engineering is the first in the UK and provides a balanced perspective of both hardware and software elements of computing systems, and their relative design trade-offs and applications. It will build on your knowledge in mathematics, science, and engineering to ensure you have a sound foundation in the areas needed for a career in this field. Laboratory experiences enable you to understand experimental design and simulation techniques. We are internationally leading in this and you will have access to unique computer engineering platforms including our:

  • Intelligent Flat (iSpace)
  • Robotics Arena
  • Networked intelligent campus (iCampus)
  • Advanced networking and multimedia labs
