Course summary

At Collective we champion groups who have traditionally been underrepresented within the Performing Arts – specifically in terms of ethnicity, disability and class. This Cert HE course is a part-time industry-focused actor-training and is designed for students who wish to develop foundational skills in professional acting. A key focus of the programme is screen acting and digital performance – with at least 50% of the curriculum devoted to this area of the industry, alongside theatre practices. As part of our actor-training pedagogy, students will be introduced to the core skills needed to become a self-sustaining entrepreneur within the contemporary creative industries. We believe this introduction to entrepreneurial thinking is a vital first step in helping make our students employable upon completion of the course, or for progression on to further study. This two-year Cert HE course offers a part-time professional actor-training – allowing you to develop the skills needed for a sustainable career as an actor for stage and screen. Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

Acceptance into the Cert HE is by audition. We audition everyone who applies. The audition process has two rounds. For the first round you will be asked to submit a self-tape. Auditions are free and all applicants are invited to participate in the first round. If you are recalled, the second and final round, will take place online. The recall will give you an opportunity to work 121 with one of our tutors – to see if Collective might be right for you – and to ask any questions you have about the course. Only candidates who are pass both stages of the audition, and who are therefore able to demonstrate the required proficiency as an actor, will be considered for a place. In exceptional circumstances, if a candidate passes the audition process, but does not meet the minimum academic requirements, they may still be offered a place if their audition is deemed outstanding.
