Course summary

Our MSc Applied Sport Performance Analysis degree offers you an excellent platform to develop advanced knowledge and the skills to analyse and develop performance in elite sport. The course has been created in collaboration with industry experts and combines high-quality teaching from applied practitioners with extensive experience in elite sport, and world-renowned research active academics. You will have access to market-leading performance analysis hardware and software, used in professional sports organisations, and develop an advanced competency in best practice processes. The course will also challenge you to build a wider understanding of how to create effective learning environments and high-performance cultures, as well as to develop your own communication and interpersonal skills. During your course you will immerse yourself in performance analysis support, performing an extended placement with either Loughborough University performance athletes or external sport partners. This will help you develop and test your skills in an applied setting, providing additional opportunities to analyse and reflect on your own professional practice and develop robust plans for your continuing personal development. The programme culminates with an applied independent research project, enabling you to apply the knowledge and techniques you have learned to answer an applied sport performance analysis question that will further develop your understanding of the subject area. This programme is ideal for students aspiring to work in elite sport, support athlete development and inform the decision-making process, as well as in the identification and recruitment of athletes for high profile sports teams, national sports organisations, and international governing bodies.


Entry requirements

A 2:1 (or equivalent international qualification) in Sport Science or a related programme (sport coaching, sport performance analysis). Alternatively, a 2:1 in a mathematics, statistics or data science course with sufficient evidence of engagement and interest in sport and sports performance. Applicants need to have prior experience in performance analysis delivery or demonstrate training and engagement with performance analysis hardware and software and/or performance analysis research. Applicants will also need to secure an appropriate performance analysis placement to be accepted onto the programme. Students may also incur travel costs associated with travelling between the placement provider and Loughborough University. Additional fee information

The tuition fees shown are for new students commencing the first year of study in the specified year only. The fee stated is for a full-time student undertaking a master’s programme of 180 credits. Part-time students, or those taking a postgraduate certificate or a postgraduate diploma, should divide the published fee by 180 credits and then multiply by the number of credits they are taking to calculate their tuition fees. Fees are reviewed annually and are likely to increase to take into account inflationary pressures.
