Course summary

Focusing on language, culture, behaviour, opinions, and ideas, this BA Modern Languages and Philosophy, Ethics and Religion incorporates some of the most fundamental aspects of humanity and the human experience. With modules that explore ethics, analytical and continental philosophy, and Eastern and Western religions, you will have opportunities to debate the questions that have been asked for centuries. We take pride in bringing your philosophical, ethics and religious studies to life with an exciting programme of guest speakers. Whilst studying Modern Languages you will learn and develop your competence in writing, speaking and comprehension in one of the languages offered. Small group teaching not only facilitates more opportunities for you practise oral, aural and translation skills, but also makes it easier to ask questions and gain feedback. We cater for those beginning a language from scratch, as well as more advanced learners. ‘Placement Year’ and 'International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time. Qualification requirements

We allow you flexibility in meeting our entry requirements and accept a broad range of qualifications. We are happy to accept combinations of the qualifications listed above, as well as alternative Level 3 qualifications such as City & Guilds, Access and Cambridge Technical Diplomas. Level 3 qualifications can be considered in conjunction with another qualification in relevant Modern Language ( e.g. A level, or IB Higher). We also welcome applications from mature learners and/or those with other qualifications are considered on individual merit. If you cannot find the qualifications that you are studying (or have completed) listed above, please contact us for advice: [email protected] No Modern Language required for language-beginners' pathway. For those seeking to study Chinese: a demonstrable interest in, but no prior knowledge of Chinese required. If you don't think you'll meet the entry requirements specified, you may be able to gain entry to this course via a Foundation Year route.
