Keele's Psychology and Education degree covers the biological bases of behaviour, cognition, individual differences, human social interaction and lifespan development, as well as contemporary issues in education and policymaking. Our BPS-accredited* programme studies the mind, brain and behaviour to understand how people think, feel, communicate and act. You will develop the skills to understand people, and investigate how children learn in the classroom, from effective teaching to individual development. Build a foundation of knowledge across Psychology and Education exploring core areas of social development, personalities and social interactions to examine individuals on a scientific and theoretical basis. The blend of both subjects enables you to investigate concepts such as equality of opportunity, class, and gender and how psychology can explain behaviour within various social contexts such as the classroom. You will be introduced to a range of psychological theories and models, covering topics in developmental and social psychology to investigate how we understand sensory information and memories, and the influence of genes and hormones on behaviour. Studying education will enable you to consider its relationship to the economy, its evolution and impact on people's life chances and identities. These insights will allow you to challenge inequalities in education and consider the support available for children from marginalised communities, with a focus on diversity and inclusion. Throughout the programme, you will develop relevant skills and expertise to conduct qualitative and quantitative research in psychology, applying your knowledge to real-world scenarios within educational contexts to understand how children learn and the challenges professionals face working with young learners. Whether you would like to pursue a career in industry or related fields, our programme equips you with core skills in communication, problem-solving and analytical thinking to help prepare you for employment. You will have the opportunity to study abroad with a partner university, developing global perspectives and cultural awareness or take a work placement year to prepare for your career after university. *subject to passing your final year project and achieving a minimum 2:2 degree award About Keele Keele University was established in 1949 by the former Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University.
