To understand the United States, its history, literature, politics, and culture, is to understand the global forces that are shaping today’s world. American Studies at Swansea University offers you an in-depth exploration of the most influential country of the modern era, from its colonial origins to contemporary challenges. This dynamic degree tackles urgent global issues such as civil rights, racial justice, and the rise of the new right. This programme, with an additional Foundation Year, gives you an exciting introduction to higher education, setting you up with the skills, confidence, and knowledge that you’ll need to be successful on your undergraduate degree. It’s ideal if you need a little more support after further education or are returning to education after a gap. After completing your foundation, you will have the flexibility to shape this degree around your interests, whether they be in American popular culture, political activism, media, migration, or foreign policy.
