Course summary
This is a unique course aimed specifically at preparing health care professionals to support learning in practice and undertake the assessment of learners’ competence and proficiency. Successful completion of this course will enable participants who are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council to fulfil the new roles of Practice / Academic Assessor. The course also offers an excellent opportunity for any other suitably qualified registered health care professional to develop their knowledge and skills to support learning in the context of their practice. Participants on this course will be registered health care professionals employed in a role that facilitates others learning. This course aims to enhance this role. However, this course would also support the development for health care professionals who would consider a role in facilitating learning in the Higher Education setting.
Qualified teacher status (QTS)
To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:

Entry requirements
Applicants must hold a first degree and have evidence of recent engagement with CPD activities. They must also be in a role whereby they are able to facilitate learning and assessment of learning.
