Course summary
The HNC in Film and Television at Chichester College Group is a vocational course designed for those with a keen desire to begin a future career in the sector or for those wishing to start a step-by-step journey into Higher Education. This is either a one year stand alone course, or the first year of an HND programme. On successful completion of this programme you can then enrol onto the HND, which with successful completion, can be ‘topped-up’ to a full bachelor’s degree in creative media technologies with our partner the University of Portsmouth in year three. Set against current and emerging trends in the industry the course offers students the opportunity to engage with a wide range of topics and disciplines including factual and fictional productions through film, documentary, drama, and wider moving image entertainment. Students’ will have opportunities to work both on location, in a state of the art green screen virtual production environment and a fully functioning TV studio environment with LED wall and develop their creative and professional skills in single and multi-camera productions. The course will also feature theory and workshop based lessons where students will develop a deeper understanding of film and television production in all stages of the production process. From the conceptualising of initial ideas through to post-production, the course will focus on an array of topics including aesthetics, content creation, scriptwriting, VFX, cinematography, editing and more.
Assessment method
You will be assessed through portfolio based course work in response to industry centred assignment briefs. The content of each project is set against current and emerging trends in the film and television industry and you will have some flexibility in terms of how you record both your creative and professional development.
