Course summary

Our MSc Chemistry by Research is a research-intensive master's course which offers advanced lecture modules in your area of specialisation, enabling you to create a bespoke degree with a 12-month individual research project. It offers specialisation in characterisation and analytics; chemical biology; computational systems; electrochemistry; magnetic resonance; organic chemistry; and functional inorganic, materials and supramolecular chemistry. You'll join a department where our research is changing the world. 97% of our Chemistry research is rated world leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021).

Modules

Compulsory modules include Research Project and; Scientific writing and presentation skills for Chemistry MSc. Optional modules range from Advanced Chemical Biology to X-ray Diffraction as a Characterisation Method. Assessment method

Examination, coursework and research project. For PhD; annual report, thesis and viva voce.


How to apply

International applicants

English language: Band C, IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in all components.

Entry requirements

A UK bachelor’s degree with upper second-class honours or higher in chemistry or chemistry-related subject.
