Course summary

The BA (Hons) Music Production course gives you the chance to create music and sound in a variety of contexts. As well as addressing the ‘how?’ of music and sound production, the course also tackles the ‘why?’; providing you with a deeper understanding of philosophies, workflows and future-proof technical approaches to music and sound production. Fundamentally, this course allows you to pursue a fulfilling career in a range of music and creative industries roles. The course will provide you with everything you need to bring your technical knowledge and creativity to real-word, live and studio settings. You will know the fundamentals required to collaborate with others, work with artists, and record other musicians’ sounds. However, you will also learn all you need to create your own electronic music and develop your skills as a potential future artist, remixer, programmer or game audio designer. During the course, you will undertake hands-on learning in our high-tech facilities, and have direct access to cutting-edge equipment and software. You will also understand the technical requirements of a professional creative brief and know the effective approaches to answer it, implementing production concepts that you’ve learned and incorporating appropriate terminology. Our world-class industry lecturers – who know the ins and outs of the creative process – will be with you every step of the way, offering direction and support. You will also have the opportunity to choose modules, such as Game Sound & Music, Electroacoustic Composition, and Vocal Capture and Production. These optional modules will help you to focus your studies and create the career route that’s right for you. The options you choose can help you forge a successful career in a range of music-based industries, such as game audio industries, electronic music, the recording industry, the live music industry, the film and TV industry, the audio post-production industry and education industry.

International applicants

BIMM University welcomes applicants from International countries that will require a Student Visa to study in the UK. Applicants must meet requirements set by UKVI. Upon acceptance of an offer you will be required to attend a consultation with a member of the International Admissions team.

Interview

Once your application is received, you will be contacted by a member of the admissions team to arrange an interview. Full guidelines on what to prepare will be emailed to you.

Portfolio

Applicants are required to bring a portfolio of work to their interview. Details on what to prepare will be provided once a date and time has been booked.

Our auditions and interviews are conducted in a relaxed and supportive manner. They are as much about you assessing us and making sure BIMM Music Institute is the right place for you to study. The audition or interview also gives you another opportunity to learn more about the course you have applied for. Auditions, Interviews and Portfolio Submissions Depending on which course you choose, you may need to attend an audition, interview or submit a portfolio of work as part of your application.


English language requirements

We also accept the following qualifications: - ESOL Skills for Life Level B2 (Higher B2 on CEFR Scale) - IGCSE English Language (First Language) at C/4 or above - IGCSE English Language (Second Language) at B/3 or above - International Baccalaureate Standard English A at grade 4, OR Higher Level English B at grade 4. If you have studied a different English Language qualification, please send details to the admissions team and we will confirm if it can be accepted. Applicants that need a student visa to study will be required to have taken a UKVI approved qualification, achieving the minimum requirements. Full details can be viewed on our website. Applicants must have met the minimum requirement and be in receipt of results prior to enrolment.
