This brand-new Level 5 HND Dance top-up course is designed to provide students with the technical, artistic, and professional skills required for a career in the global dance industry. The course offers advanced training in performance, choreography, and critical engagement with contemporary dance practice. This course is provided by Expressions Academy of Performing Arts in Mansfield in partnership with Nottingham College. It is being offered for the first time in September 2025. Please Note: Applicants for this course must already have attained (or expect to achieve) a full Level 4 performance-related qualification (such as a Higher National Certificate, Certificate of Higher Education or equivalent). About the course The Level 5 HND course has been designed to develop students' knowledge and skills in areas such as choreography, audition preparation, company working and the contextualisation of dance. It focuses primarily on practical learning and skills development in a wide variety of dance disciplines. Modules are planned to include: -Creative Research Project -Working in the Performing Arts Industry -Jazz Dance 2 -Contemporary Dance 2 -Commercial Dance 2 -Dance for Musical Theatre -Performance Project Campus Location This course is delivered by our partners - the Expressions Academy of Performing Arts (EPA) in Mansfield. Located in the centre of Mansfield., the purpose-built campus offers 9 fully air-conditioned state-of-the-art spaces with sprung floor, sound facilities, mirrored rooms and natural light in a spacious and contemporary building. The largest studio is 3,864 square feet (46 feet wide by 85 feet long) ensuring no overcrowding in lessons. The Academy also provides purpose-built study rooms, common room meeting areas with hot and cold drinks and snacks. Wifi is available throughout with full CCTV covering all areas for added security. Assessment Assessment is continuous, providing a range of evidence of your learning. This will include: practical demonstrations and live performances, essays, journals/log books, rehearsal evidence, video evidence, presentations, group projects and e portfolios. Qualification awarded Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance) awarded by Pearson Bursaries We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Your career and progression After successfully completing the HND in Dance, you could top-up to our Level 6 BA (Hons) Performing Arts, or the final year of our Level 6 BA (Hons) Dance and Education degree, or similar, or enter into employment. Previous Academy graduates have gone on to work in the West End, UK and abroad; film and TV, cruise ships, holiday venues, community arts projects or into choreography/teaching.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
