Course summary
Students will study the Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate and Level 5 Higher National Diploma in The Animation Industry encompassing associated digital art and motion skills. This will equip them with the technical and conceptual skills they need to bring their ideas and creativity to life through a series of challenging client led and contextual practical briefs, workshops and seminars. Course work is assessed at regular staging points throughout the duration of the course. The primary method of assessment will be through practical projects, submitted as you create a portfolio of work that demonstrates technical and creative know-how. This will be supported where appropriate by research, production logs and presentation of work. Staff teaching in the course are educated to Master’s degree level and/or have extensive connections with local industry. All are experienced lecturers with a wealth of creative and technical knowledge and experience across the world of animation, motion design and digital arts. Staff keep up to date with sector activity through industry engagement and client-projects and attending specialist events and training. This course can lead to careers in animation, illustration, and digital art. Potential Job roles in the sector include: Animation Director, Animation Producer, Production Coordinator, Concept Artist, Look Development Artist, Background Designer, Character Designer, Storyboard Artist, Junior Animator, Animator, Compositor, Layout Artist, Rigger, Animation Editor, Previsualisation Artist, Roto Artist, Illustrator, Digital Artist, Content Creator, Motion Designer, Art Director and Creative Director, amongst others. The course can also top up to a full Bachelor’s degree in animation or a related subject. This could then be followed by a Master’s Degree for those who want to continue into post graduate study
