Course summary
This programme is a general engineering degree course that bridges many disciplines of engineering, including mechanical, electrical and electronic, civil, environmental, and product design. It will develop your ability to create and contribute solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing the 21st Century. You will be empowered to use the engineering knowledge you learn to create innovative solutions to real-world projects identified by industry. The TEDI-London curriculum takes an interdisciplinary approach to engineering. This means that it includes all the elements of professional engineering as well as digital, design, and business skills, and is ideal if you’re interested in all aspects of engineering and don’t want to decide on a specific discipline. You will learn ‘hands-on’ from day one, on projects that are real-life challenges co-designed and delivered with employers. The mixture of individual and group projects will allow you to develop teamwork, problem solving, project management and leadership skills and give you the opportunity to study areas that interest you. To support your projects, you will be able to access theoretical modules and content via our Learning Tree - a digitally enhanced learning platform. The skills and knowledge you will gain are equally applicable to systems, products and processes across engineering and by studying with us, you will develop an enterprising and entrepreneurial mind-set. We aim:
- To provide you with the knowledge, skills, experience, and understanding which underpin a professional career in engineering
- To provide opportunities for you to develop appropriate design, project management and engineering skills
- To train you with design engineering skills and enable you to use them to develop and implement problem-solving strategies to a wide range of problems
- To provide insight into engineering practice and commercial aspects of engineering
- To produce resourceful, competent, confident clear-thinking professional engineers equipped to work the engineering industry
- To meet the requirements for accreditation of the programme by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED).
