The Foundation Year prepares you for further studies in health and social care. It provides a supportive environment where you can grow in confidence and develop the knowledge and academic skills that you need to study at undergraduate level. Whether you want to work for the NHS or choose the private sector, studying Physiotherapy at university will readily prepare you for a range of sectors. From community placements to working in hospitals, you'll gain a minimum of 1000 hours of placement to ensure that you are confident and competent for when you enter the professional sphere. During your physiotherapy course, you’ll build a placement passport, which you can use as evidence to showcase the experience and versatility that you'll gain throughout your three years with us. You'll develop your clinical skills and enhance your confidence when working with patients. Here at CCCU, we are firm advocates for using evidence-based research and practice. You will too through our emphasis on quality improvement and leadership, as well as gaining other skills such as communication, problem-solving, and decision making. You’ll learn to adapt in a constantly evolving profession, ensuring that your practice remains current. What’s more, you’ll be based in our state-of-the-art Verena Holmes building on our Canterbury Campus. You’ll gain inter-professional experience as you learn alongside students in other sectors including paramedics, radiographers, OTs, and ODPs. Professional accreditation The BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy is accredited and approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) respectively. Successful completion of this programme provides eligibility to apply for registration with the HCPC and full membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. Specialist facilities As a healthcare student, you will have access to our specialist, industry-relevant, simulation facilities. Physiotherapy students will be taught practical hands-on skills in their own dedicated area of the simulation suite. These facilities include equipment you would be using out on placement, to develop the skills and knowledge you need in a realistic simulated environment.

Home (UK) Fees: Home (UK) tuition fees for Foundation Years at Canterbury Christ Church University will be set in line with the maximum tuition fee cap for foundation years in classroom-based subjects or non-classroom-based subjects, as set by the UK Government. Home (UK) tuition fees for subsequent years 1-3 are currently set in line with the maximum tuition fee cap for standard undergraduate degrees set by the UK Government, currently £9,535. However, this is subject to any changes to the maximum tuition fee cap, or any other changes to regulated undergraduate tuition fees, that might be subsequently approved by Parliament for the 2026/27 academic year onwards. International Tuition Fees (including EU fees): Undergraduate tuition fees for International students are not subject to the Government’s regulations on maximum tuition fees. Sponsorship information

Once you have successfully completed the Foundation Year, you will be eligible for extra funding from the government. Students on a nursing, midwifery and many allied health courses will be eligible to apply for an NHS Learning Support Fund of at least £5,000 a year to help with living costs. Eligible students may also be awarded additional funding up to £3,000 a year. This money will not need to be repaid.
