Course summary
This programme is intended for people who have completed an introductory counselling course, typically at a Level 2 who wish to develop their counselling skills further or gain a qualification in Higher Education which qualifies them to apply for the Level 5 Diploma in Person Centred Counselling (a professional qualification in Counselling) The Certificate of Advanced Counselling, enables you develop your counselling skills within a person-centred framework. You are not required to work with clients, nor work within a placement, as this is an academic course which does not in itself provide a profession qualification, but can create a pathway towards achieving this. Please note, that there is no automatic progression route between our courses. Each qualification requires a rigorous assessment process including an interview, and due to limited places, you may be placed on a waiting list or may not be successful on your first application. What you will learn You will develop your counselling skills with peers and tutors. You will also focus on learning about counselling theory and personal development, counselling ethics and the principles which inform the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Professional counselling boundaries, ethical dilemmas and social issues and their impact on the counselling process are also explored. Assessment Assessment is through coursework and presentations, and we use a self, peer and tutor assessment process. Cornwall College University Centre offers a unique and fulfilling university experience with small class sizes, allowing for personal attention from tutors and a strong sense of community among students. The wrap-around support provided ensures that students receive the necessary guidance and resources to excel in their studies, while studying alongside likeminded individuals who share their passion for vocational technical skills. Located in one of the most beautiful and natural parts of the country, students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the stunning surroundings while developing practical skills that set them apart in the job market.
