Course summary

10th in the UK for Psychology (ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2023) 18th in the UK for Psychology (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024) Top 20 in the UK for our research overall in Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience in REF 2021 (Times Higher Education) This course gives you a critical understanding of cognitive behavioural models of anxiety disorders and depression. You’ll develop the skills to deliver high-quality, cognitive behavioural interventions across this range of problems. We currently offer one pathway through this course:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Common Mental Health Difficulties.
This course is offered in partnership between the School of Psychology at the University of Sussex, one of the largest psychology units in the UK, and the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. We understand that deciding where and what to study is a very important decision. Assessment method

Our taught modules are assessed by a variety of methods including essays, clinical activity reports, clinical commentary, and a portfolio.

Entry requirements

Degree requirements You should normally have an upper second-class (2.1) undergraduate honours degree or above. If you don’t have the degree requirement for this course you should provide a portfolio of evidence of written work produced while training or working in the field. Subject-specific requirements You must have: a core professional qualification in a mental-health field as defined by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) or evidence of completing the BABCP Knowledge Skills and Attitudes portfolio requirements foundation-level knowledge of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and evidence of providing structured psychological therapies and interventions. IELTS (Academic) High level (6.5 overall, including at least 6.0 in each component).
