On this course, you will have access to our Media Creativity Suite, which has a video studio and a computer lab kitted out with iMacs installed with industry standard software, including Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Creative Cloud. We also offer a flexible degree structure with a wide range of specialist modules, including writing fiction, film production, digital public relations and strategy, marketing and branding, that allow you to tailor your studies to your future career goals while developing your individual interests. In addition, you also have the option to study a number of modules in Welsh. Based on our stunning Singleton Park campus, in parkland overlooking Swansea Bay on the edge of the Gower Peninsula, our teaching staff comprises of specialist international researchers and also ex-professionals lecturing on video production, web and creative design, PR and journalism, giving you an unrivalled mix of academic and industry experience, further supported by lectures and seminars by guest speakers. You will gain excellent oral and writing skills and learn to present your ideas in a range of formats. You will also develop strong research and analytical skills and the ability to problem solve and make informed decisions. Our third year will be spent as a Year in Industry gaining valuable skills and experiences. This year will provide you with practical skills and will further improve your student experience and enhance your career prospects. Modules

The modules of this course are broken down into 6 unique pathways; Media Theory, Digital Media, Journalism, Film, Public Relations, and Creative Practice. Students can follow whichever pathways aligns to thier interests and objectives, or they can choose a mix of modules from the pathway to aquire a variety of skills. You can study 80 credits or more of this course through the medium of Welsh. Each year of the course has dedicated Welsh language taught modules within each pathway. Your first year will include a mixture of compulsory and optional modules, with examples of compulsory modules from recent years including: • Delivering and Decoding the News • Introduction to Media History Your second and third years will comprise entirely optional modules from an expansive range of subject areas. Examples of optional modules in recent years have included: • Approaches to Film Analysis • Social Media Practices • Sport Public Relations • Documentary Film Making and Broadcasting • Digital Futures Your final year will include an optional independent dissertation project. Assessment method

Studying Media and Communications at Swansea University allows students to enhance their future employability prospects through assessments that replicate the kind of experiences you will face in the creative communications industries, often with the involvement of industry professionals to offer feedback and advice.
