Course summary

This course considers current research and practice in cyber security. You will develop technical expertise and practical skills in the design, management and evaluation of secure systems, and in the use of tools and techniques for penetration testing and cyber defence. This MSc can lead to a career such as a network system administrator, security analyst, ethical hacker or a security consultant.

Modules

Core modules: Professional issues; investigative methods for computer science; distributed systems security; secure systems programming; information security, management and compliance; penetration testing; cyber operations; cyber security masters project.

Assessment method

Assessment includes masters project.


Entry requirements

A recent, good bachelors degree (e.g. honours degree from the UK) or equivalent in Computer Science or closely-related subject. Plus IELTS 6.0 if your first language is not English. Applicants who do not wholly meet these requirements, but who are considered to have the professional experience, motivation or potential to succeed at the programme, may also be accepted. If you do not have the required level of English for entry, our academic English courses can help you to achieve this level.
