Year One In your first year, you’ll build a strong foundation in human anatomy, health and wellbeing, and healthcare in Wales. You’ll also begin to develop essential academic, professional, and personal skills that will prepare you for a career in health and social care. Compulsory Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology (20 Credits) Living well: A life-course Approach to Health and Wellbeing (20 Credits) Personal, Academic and Professional Development (20 Credits) Practising Healthcare in Wales: Language and Culture (20 Credits) Professional Practice: A Person-centred Approach (20 Credits) Understanding Health and Social Care (20 Credits) Year Two In your second year, you’ll deepen your understanding of advanced anatomy and physiology, explore leadership in healthcare, and engage with contemporary issues in mental health. You’ll also develop research skills and learn to apply evidence-based practice to promote health and well-being within the Welsh context. Compulsory Advanced Anatomy and Physiology (20 Credits) Management and Leadership in the Healthcare Setting (20 Credits) Practising Healthcare in Wales: People and Policy (20 Credits) Research Methods and Evidence-based Practice (20 Credits) Contemporary Issues in Mental Health (20 Credits) Promoting Health and Well-being (20 credits)

Assessment method

Exams are not heavily used in the programmes because the assessment focus is on the rehearsal of activities typically undertaken in the nursing and healthcare environment. Coursework is the primary assessment strategy. Coursework and practical tasks are set in a variety of formats; these include: Practical in-class set exercises (e.g. debate seminars) Role play (e.g. mock nursing interviews with heads of industry) Presentations Professional nursing portfolio (mirroring demands of industry) Research projects Reflective blogs Peer mentoring Video critique Essays Reports Work experience/placements.
