Why choose this course Our Bridge Engineering MSc is the only masters programme that specialises in this area in Europe – and one of the few around the world. Running since the early 1970s, our fully accredited course provides you with the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills in specialist aspects of bridge engineering, including designing new bridges and managing existing bridges. This MSc will help you pursue an exciting career as a bridge engineer, which can include working for consultancies involved in bridge design or bridge contractors involved in construction. Our programme is fully aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, and covers sustainability and resilience in civil engineering infrastructure design and assessment. What you will study Our MSc in Bridge Engineering is designed to provide you with a solid understanding of bridge analysis, design and management. If you’re a practising bridge engineer, it will enable you to improve your existing knowledge and skills and familiarise yourself with new industry-relevant techniques. This course covers a wide range of modules that address the whole life analysis of bridges from design through to end-of-life. You’ll also have a choice of optional modules from the areas of: -Geotechnical engineering -Infrastructure engineering and management -Structural engineering -Water/environmental engineering. During your studies, you’ll have the chance to visit a bridge site on a field trip (subject to availability), allowing you to experience how your knowledge can be applied in practice.

Entry requirements

A minimum of a 2:2 UK honours degree in civil engineering (or other related engineering subjects), or equivalent recognised international degree. Applicants will be considered on an individual basis, based on strength in specific subjects related to the MSc programme and/or professional experience. English language requirements IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall with 6.0 in Writing and 5.5 in each other element.
