Course summary
This Foundation degree is a work-based course which means you work and learn at the same time. You will develop the effective use of knowledge, skills and core values that are relevant to future work or study in both social care and social work. The Foundation degree in Social Care Studies is designed to help you develop their understanding of the knowledge, skills and values that underpin social care practice and leads to an academic award that recognises their own knowledge and capability in the work place. It is a two-year programme accredited by Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) but studied for at the College, and successful students have the option to continue their studies to BA Honours level for a third 'top-up' year here at college or at CCCU’s own campus.

##GCSE English - Grade A*-C or equivalent ##Level 2 Maths qualification or equivalent ##Level 3 qualification - NVQ, BTEC National, one A Level or Access to HE Diploma or equivalent in a relevant subject such as health and social care or a level 3 qualification in an unrelated subject area alongside significant experience in a relevant health and/or social care work setting ##Be employed (or working in a suitable volunteer capacity) for at least 15 hours per week working in a relevant social care setting and have the support from your employer who will confirm the suitability of the setting in relation to meeting the programme’s work based learning outcomes ##You will also need to pass an interview and/or aptitude test
