Course summary

Our veterinary gateway year helps widen participation in veterinary medicine. You'll learn basic science in animal biology and chemistry, as well as animal behaviour and care. Teaching uses integrated modules that illustrate how these key areas work, giving you the required knowledge for progression. In addition, you will gain an understanding of relevant industries. develop an appreciation of the role of animals in society, and expand your animal handling skills. After completing your gateway year you'll automatically join our five-year veterinary medicine and surgery course. Why choose this course?

Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

All applicants must meet widening participation criteria as detailed on the website. This course is open to UK applicants only. In addition to the above grades, all applicants (except Access) must meet GCSE requirements - minimum of five grade Bs (numeric grade 6) at GCSE to include Chemistry, Biology, Physics (or Double Science) and Maths. GCSE English language to be passed at grade C (4); Core Science, Additional Science and Further Additional Science are required at grade B (6). If GCSEs have not been taken, applicants must provide evidence of achievement at an equivalent level. European Baccalaureate - 73% overall including Biology and Chemistry 80%. Resits are not accepted for this course. This course is not open to graduates.
