Course summary

The curriculum is expertly crafted to balance theoretical foundations with practical applications. This immersive learning environment allows you to apply your knowledge to real-world challenges, build a robust project portfolio, and gain invaluable insights. Our MSc Games Design program is developed in close collaboration with industry. Unlike many other programs, UoB emphasizes career-powered education, integrating practical experiences that prepare you to excel immediately upon graduation. The School of Computer Science and Technology boasts a proven history of success in Creative Technologies education and developing the subject at Undergraduate level – leading to excellent NSS results and graduate outcomes. Along with a dedicated team of subject specialist Lecturers there are dedicated labs for Creative Technologies focused on Games Console Development and Games Art and Animation content creation. This is supported by additional facilities for Motion Capture, Immersive Technologies and Digital Fabrication. The School also has a strong research base and the majority of the subject team are qualified at PhD level as experts in their domains. The School includes faculty members recognized as leaders in other domains of computing and in related fields such as HCI, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Robotics This means you will be taught by subject experts who bring both deep knowledge and practical experience to the classroom, creating a high-level learning environment.


Entry requirements

Candidates should have a good undergraduate degree at Honours level or equivalent in computer games development, games design, or a cognate area, and English Language as appropriate, e.g. IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. International applications will be assessed using UKBA AND University of Bedfordshire policy, check English language requirements at: www.beds.ac.uk/english-language. Candidates with other non-cognate degrees will be asked to show evidence of skills or relevant experience to the subject via a portfolio submission (in the form of digital document). IELTS score: IELTS overall score of 6.0 with 5.5 in each element.
