Course summary

This course is designed to provide graduates of a non-associated degree with core technical knowledge and skills leading to Chartered membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). A particular emphasis is placed on issues relating to the financing and investment of property and whilst not a requirement there is an expectation that the dissertation will look into these subjects. This degree aims to impart practical and theoretical understanding of real estate finance and investment, valuation, appraisal, development and management which will allow students to examine critically current practice and apply, at an advanced level, contemporary theory and techniques to issues that face property professionals.

Assessment method

This personal research project of 12,000 to 14,000 words is usually linked to an aspect of real estate that has a specific professional application or is of personal interest to you.

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for students with a Bachelor's degree in any subject with the British Honours equivalent degree grade of 2.2 or above. The University also welcomes applications from applicants without the conventional entrance requirements but who have substantial relevant work or other experience and whose motivation and skills would enable them to succeed on the course.
