Our exciting Health and Social Care degree offers you the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of health and social care that includes a range of issues about living in communities and society. During the course you will be able to tailor your learning by specialising in key areas of health and social care, and boost your career prospects by undertaking work-based learning. Modules
Year One modules include Foundations in Health and Social Care, Current Issues in Health and Social Care, Social Policy for Health and Social Care, Working with People, Preparing for Practice and Human Growth and Development. Year Two modules include Research in Health and Social Care, Managing Health and Social Care, Professional Practice, Person Centred Interventions. Optional modules include Making Sense of Health Improvement, Engaging with Vulnerable Groups, Mental Health and Well Being and Health, Social Care and Crime. Final Year modules include Individual Research Project and Leadership in Health and Social Care. Optional modules include Children's and Young People's Mental Health, Healthy Places, Healthy People, Young People and Social Care, Health Promotion in Practice, Global Health and Development and Ageing in the 21st Century.
Assessment method
The majority of your work will be assessed through: coursework-based essays reports examinations individual and group presentations your work experience portfolio a final year research-based dissertation. There will also be practical assessments, which will include: group and individual presentations video exercises poster presentations IT-based exercises. In response to student feedback the University has introduced a policy ensuring marked work is returned to you electronically within three weeks of submission.
