Developing your expertise You’ll develop and complete a substantial, original research project that reflects your passion and aligns with staff expertise. Alongside this, you’ll engage with taught seminars in research methods and critical theory designed strengthen your understanding of key frameworks, methodologies, and contemporary disciplinary debates. This will equip you with the tools and theoretical foundations needed to navigate complex ideas and approach your dissertation with clarity. Throughout your studies, you’ll work closely with a dedicated dissertation supervisory team, selected to align with your chosen research area. Supervision is available in language-related postcolonial, political, literary and cultural studies and on the migration, integration, acquisition and teaching of languages. From helping you to identify relevant literature and refine your focus, to guiding your methodology and helping your academic writing, your supervisors will be there to offer one-to-one support at every stage of your research journey. Entry requirements
A good honours degree (usually a 2:1) or an equivalent qualification is required in any relevant discipline. Applicants will be required to produce a 300 to 500-word synopsis of the proposed research topic, and attend an interview with the Programme Leader and the proposed supervisor.
