Course summary

Shape the player’s journey in one of the world’s top-ranked game development schools. At The Game Assembly UK, we train the next generation of level designers to thrive in one of the fastest-growing creative industries. Ranked among the world’s top 10 game development schools (Rookies 2024), our programmes are created with leading studios to ensure you graduate with the exact skills employers are looking for. As a level designer, you’ll learn how to create engaging, immersive game experiences by mastering layout, flow, balance, pacing, and storytelling through space. You’ll develop practical expertise in Unreal Engine, scripting, and 3D tools, while also studying gameplay mechanics, player psychology, and visual communication. What makes this course unique is our studio-based approach: from the very start, you’ll work in multidisciplinary teams with programmers, artists, animators and technical designers to build complete games. This mirrors the workflows and pipelines of professional studios, preparing you for real production environments. By graduation, you’ll have designed and shipped multiple games, refined your creative process through playtesting and iteration, and built a professional portfolio showcasing your abilities. Our graduates are recruited every year by partner studios including 10:10 Games, Avalanche, IO Interactive, Lucid Games, Wushu Studios, Studio Gobo, Electric Square, Skyhook Games, Radical Forge, and Cloud Imperium Games.
