For information about how we each use your application data, we encourage you to read our updated privacy policies available on the websites at: Leeds Trinity University Privacy Policy (Applicant Data) at leedstrinity.ac.uk/about/public-information Bradford College Data Protection and Privacy Policy at bradfordcollege.ac.uk This is the perfect opportunity for you to work towards a rewarding and challenging career at the McMillan School of Education, an established centre for teacher education set in a stimulating, diverse environment. What you will learn Our Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) course is based on and goes beyond the Core Content Framework and progressively leads you to the standards required for recommendation of QTS at the end of the programme. You will then begin your Early Career Teacher (ECT) phase in your first and second year of employment. Learning and teaching pedagogy runs throughout the course to ensure your professional development is based on a solid theoretical foundation and is built on as you move through each year of study. Course content covers subjects within the National Curriculum and all other relevant statutory frameworks and guidance to enable you to meet the requirements of the Teachers’ Standards and ensure you are a strong teaching candidate. School Experience School experience is a vital part of your teacher training programme. A key strength of the course is how theory and practice are related by working with children in placement schools -with support provided by experienced mentors. School placements are compliant with DfE criteria and will be arranged for you within the Primary age range. Every effort is made to ensure that the most appropriate placements are chosen for each trainee to enhance their professional development. Placement schools are situated in Bradford and the neighbouring areas to give a wide range of experience and to meet the needs of students from across the region. Qualified Teacher Status During each stage of your school experience, you will be formatively assessed and your progress mapped against core competencies. A summary judgement will be made at the end of each stage. This summary will provide you with further information about your areas of strength and targets to develop moving forwards. By the end of your training in school you will be expected to have met the Teachers’ Standards and a Summative Assessment will be made using the standards as a benchmark. When you meet the Teachers’ Standards, you are then recommended for QTS by Leeds Trinity University as our accredited ITT training provider. Progression Career and progression opportunities in the Primary sector are plentiful and rewarding. Completion of the BA (Hons) Primary Education: Later Years (5-11) with QTS will give you the relevant training and expertise so you can continue to build the skills and knowledge you need to feel confident and empowered in your classroom as an Early Career Teacher (ECT).
