If you want to work in broadcasting, or the film and TV industry, then this programme could be the one to get you started in this fast-moving sector. Our FdA Media Production is an exciting two-year Foundation degree, designed to develop your skills and understanding of the creative industries. You will be challenged to create content for film, television, social media and corporate media, whilst developing skills in lighting, audio, post-production and photography. You will develop a clear understanding of the dynamic state of contemporary media and an ability to analyse them within local, national and global contexts. Understanding the historical evolution of the field is essential to understanding current thinking and attitudes to creative media, and this is embedded in the programme. You will develop a thorough knowledge of the many ways in which modes of communication, practices and structures have developed across a range of countries and cultures. You will learn about the interconnectedness of texts and contexts, the evolution of different genres, aesthetic traditions and forms, and how media and communication can be understood in relation to technological change. Our flexible study programme, involving workshop and project-based study, will help you develop into a professional who is ready to enter industry. Our teaching team are all active practitioners in the creative sector and are able to give you valuable insights into how to develop a career in this dynamic and fast-moving sector. There are no exams and you will be assessed by a range of methods across five modules at level 4. There are four modules at level 5, three of which run for the entire year, to develop and consolidate your ability to work with clients, to understand business practice and networking, and your professional practice. You will be based at our brand new University Centre at our WISE campus in Bristol, which is well equipped with media suites, as well as a cybercafé, learning resource centre and many other facilities. Our flexible study programme, involving workshop and project-based study, will help you develop into a professional who is ready to enter industry or go on to further study, including the opportunity to “top up” to a full Bachelor’s with our BA (Hons) Media Production (Level 6).
