Course summary

Our History PGCE is highly practical and deeply theoretical, engaging with a wide range of inspirational thinking and outstanding practice in history education. Student teachers learn to help young people to think historically when understanding the world, themselves, and others. You develop knowledge and understanding of how to plan, teach and assess learners across the full secondary age range.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:

  • Secondary

Entry requirements

A minimum of a lower second-class UK Bachelor’s degree or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard with at least 50% History content. English level: Level 2
