Civil Engineering is concerned with the planning, design, construction, sustainability, management and maintenance of infrastructure. Fields of activity include structures, transportation, foundations and water engineering. Civil engineers require technical skills and are concerned with management and the protection of the environment. Civil Engineering was one of the founding degrees at Queen's, making it one of the oldest in the UK and Ireland. Staff lead high-quality research and are recognised for their excellence in teaching.

Qualification requirements

GCSE Mathematics at grade C/4 or better. Scottish National 5 Mathematics at grade C or better. In all cases where Physics is not offered at A-level or at Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher, applicants must have a minimum of grade C/4 in GCSE Physics/grades CC/44 in Double Award Science (not Applied), or grade C in National 5 Physics.
