Do you want a practical course where you get to learn a wide variety of dance styles, including aerial dance? The BA (Hons) Dance and Performance at the Arden is a vocationally orientated course where you will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and also uncover your own creative voice and artistic ambitions. You will have regular opportunities to perform and will also work alongside professional artists and companies to realise your professional ambitions as a versatile, creative dance artist.

Modules

First year units : - Contemporary Dance Techniques (Contemporary, Ballet, Contact Improvisation, Capoeira) - Commercial Dance Techniques (Jazz, Tap, Commercial, Acrobatics) - Creative Dance Practice and Choreography - Contextual Studies - Pathways for Employability (including singing, acting and physical comedy) - Anatomy, physiology and somatic practice Second year units : - Aerial and Advanced dance techniques (dance techniques as above and hoop, trapeze, pole and silks) - Practice-based Research Project - The Real and Virtual Performer (Sited Performance and Dance for Camera) - Pathways for Employability (including Dance in Education and the Community) Third year units : - Aerial and Advanced dance techniques 2 - Independent Industry Project (working alongside professional artists to develop a new piece of work for touring, filming and festivals) - Professional Showcase - Employability for dance (Professionally Filmed Showreel and Portfolio - Dissertation.
