Explore how global economies impact real-world business decisions with our BSc (Hons) Business Economics. This hands-on, industry-informed degree blends economic theory with practical business insight, preparing you for careers in finance, consultancy, policy and beyond. You’ll master tools like Excel and Power BI, tackle live projects and even have the option to take a paid placement year. Accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), this course equips you with the analytical, strategic and leadership skills employers value most. Our teaching is practical and career-focused, with input from our industry partners, so you'll build the expertise that employers look for. The Foundation Year of the four-year programme aims to provide understanding of the key subjects in business to meet the prerequisites for study on the associated degree programme. The key areas of study will be effective communication and study skills combined with key subjects in business. You will be introduced to basic theories and concepts within the disciplines to provide a basic knowledge in all related subject areas. The programme will introduce you to essential areas of business necessary for progression onto business, accounting or law degrees. You will learn how to apply business concepts to real life organisations and develop communication, IT and study skills. Following completion of the Foundation Year, you will progress on to year one of your selected degree for the remainder three years of your course (four years if you are choosing to do the placement year). All our undergraduate business courses are available with: • Placement Year - on the placement year option, you will not pay fees to the University and will earn a wage for the work that you do. • Study Abroad – study with one of our partner Universities for a semester or a year. Modules
Your foundation year will give you a grounding in business management and economics, preparing you for your future studies. In the first year, you'll gain a fundamental understanding of how organisations work, through business simulations and real-world projects. You will explore new subjects and gain a comprehensive understanding of the business sector. The second year focuses on more in-depth economic theories and transferable skills, with core and optional modules to shape your learning. By your final year, you are becoming a professional. You will be practising more advanced skills, with optional modules allowing you to hone in on your interests. Assessment method
We use different assessment techniques in different modules and try to ensure all assessments reflect the types of work you will do after graduating. This may include portfolio work, presentations and business pitches.
