Course summary

From helping professional athletes prepare for the demands of competition to motivating everyday exercisers to increase their physical activity, our BSc examines the fascinating role of psychology in its application to sport coaching and performance, as well as exercise, health and wellbeing. Taught by experts in their field, you will learn about the psychology of sport and exercise from individual and group perspectives, how it can be used to improve performance, team-building and leadership, as well as engagement, participation, motivation and adherence in general physical activity and exercise. You will gain valuable hands-on experience of research design, critical reviewing, planning, analysis, and interpretation in addition to critical understanding of contemporary issues in sports and exercise. You will also explore the ethical responsibilities of psychologists as well as the extent to which sport and exercise contributes to social, political, and cultural developments.
