Course summary

The course is designed for both construction professionals and lawyers. Construction professionals will learn about the legal framework to the construction industry and engage on the legal processes involved in major construction projects, from commissioning to completion. Lawyers will gain a greater understanding of the processes and management of construction projects, as well as in-depth legal expertise relating to such projects. Construction Law offers both an in-person and online version, with both versions offering the same content, with a mix of pre-recorded and live online lectures available. Students will also have access to a wide range of electronic information sources. Ranked 6th in the UK for Law (Times Good University Guide 2023)

Modules

Compulsory classes: Context of Construction (for Law graduates), Legal Process and the Law of Contact and Other Obligations (for non-Law graduates), Law of the Construction Industry, Law and Practice of Construction Management, Construction Dispute Resolution, Dissertation (Masters students only)


Entry requirements

First- or upper second-class Honours degree, or overseas equivalent, in a related discipline. Where an applicant has a lower second-class Honours degree in a relevant discipline, admission may be possible with suitable professional qualifications and/or considerable appropriate experience. Please note: a Law degree is not a prerequisite for entry to this course.
