Course summary
The course is designed for both construction professionals and lawyers. Construction professionals will learn about the legal framework to the construction industry and engage on the legal processes involved in major construction projects, from commissioning to completion. Lawyers will gain a greater understanding of the processes and management of construction projects, as well as in-depth legal expertise relating to such projects. Construction Law offers both an in-person and online version, with both versions offering the same content, with a mix of pre-recorded and live online lectures available. Students will also have access to a wide range of electronic information sources. Ranked 6th in the UK for Law (Times Good University Guide 2023)
Modules
Compulsory classes: Context of Construction (for Law graduates), Legal Process and the Law of Contract and Other Obligations (for non-Law graduates), Law of the Construction Industry, Law and Practice of Construction Management, Construction Dispute Resolution. Students also select optional, specialist, elective classes (these are typically drawn from specialist courses such as Arbitration Law, Mediation and Negotiation or from other options offered by Strathclyde Law School Masters programmes). LLM Students Only: Dissertation, Enhanced Research Proposal, Professional Project (subject to application), Professional Internship (subject to application).

First-class or second-class Honours degree, or International equivalent, in a related discipline.
