Course summary

Our integrated Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering MEng degree gives you the opportunity to study to masters level. You'll become a creative engineer who can provide innovative solutions to real-world challenges, and improve the quality of life for people around the world. Robotics and mechatronics play an increasingly important – and evolving – role in our everyday lives, with growing demand from industries including manufacturing, agriculture, aerospace, healthcare, transportation, entertainment, education and research. We'll help you to build the skills needed to design, develop and test intelligent machines and automated systems. You'll gain advanced knowledge of AI and cybersecurity and you'll prepare for your career by working with other engineering specialists on challenging and rewarding projects like building and fighting robots and real-world projects in collaboration with our industry partners. You’ll learn with expert staff linked with our Advanced Engineering Centre and Centre of Secure, Intelligent and Usable Systems, making use of our specialist facilities including our robotics and mechatronics lab, VR lab, and CISCO cybersecurity and communications lab.

Additional fee information

Please note that the £13,842 international fee is for classroom based courses and provisional for 2023. For lab based courses a higher fee of £14,892 applies. EU students will be charged international fees unless they have settled status awarded by the UK Government's Settlement Scheme. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study and are subject to an annual increase of no more than 5% or RPI (whichever is the greater). The annual increase for UK/EU students, who are subject to regulated fees, will increase no more than the statutory maximum fee. The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full-time or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take. If your course includes a sandwich year option you will pay a reduced fee during this year; £1,370 for home students and £2,120 for international students. You may have to pay additional costs during your studies. The cost of optional activities is not included in your tuition fee and you will need to meet this cost in addition to your fees.
