Course summary

Behind every great fashion house is a team of top communicators. Marketing, PR, styling and trend prediction fuels the £26 billion British fashion industry. Our BA (Hons) Fashion Communication course will help you become a part of it. On this course, you’ll gain practical skills and explore the thinking behind fashion communication. You’ll create photography and film, and develop visual identities using the latest creative software. We’ll also teach you the theory behind everything from building campaigns for brands to freelancing. The course focuses on contemporary and future-thinking media practice, digital technology, and developing conceptual strategies when answering a brief. We’ll encourage you to develop your own personal brand identity within your work, encouraging a ‘self as brand’ philosophy, whilst at the same time speaking directly to the fast-paced, diverse world of branding and communication for fashion and related industries. What you will learn BA (Hons) Fashion Communication recognises the uniqueness of the individual whilst embedding the collaborative aspects of academic engagement and creative risk taking in the fashion branding and communication arena. Through the journey of the course you will experience challenges and new possibilities whilst seeking innovative solutions to concept origination, application and final outcomes. A guiding principle of the course is for you to initially develop key skillsets which will underpin and inform your professional growth and develop your sense of place in the industry. You will be studying in an environment that will prepare you to manage the diverse requirements of the fashion branding and communication sector. Following this, you will be encouraged to make conscientious choices that question existing practices whilst embracing the importance of being informed, empowered and creatively diverse. The course will deliver a challenging curriculum that embeds theory with practice and is rooted in professional contexts. It challenges you and should exceed your educational expectations whilst clarifying your industry relevance when progressing to alumni. You will have the ability to assess, question, analyse, conceptualise, translate and deliver enabling you to meet a breadth of challenges and opportunities offered by the global creative industries.   • Relate specialist knowledge and skills developed within fashion branding and communication to contemporary practice and to emerging trends at the forefront of the global industry.
  • Adapt to and engage with a breadth of challenges that exist in a fast moving, professional environment aligned with new fashion platforms of communication and omni channel engagement across fashion branding and communication supported by research and creativity.
  • Demonstrate an ability to contribute to and collaborate with companies and brands at both commercial and diverse levels of the branding and communication sector.

Qualification requirements

We are happy to accept a wide range of qualifications, including but not limited to: A Levels, BTEC Extended Diploma, OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma, BTEC Subsidiary Diploma(s), Access to HE courses, Scottish Highers, IB Diploma Programme, Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. We can also accept many EU and International qualifications. See website for details. Email Admissions ([email protected]) with any queries about entry requirements. We welcome applicants who are currently studying or who have gained a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design and this qualification meets our level three entry requirements. This is a recommended qualification for many of our courses but it is not a compulsory qualification. Other relevant and equivalent Level 3 qualifications are considered on an individual basis and we are happy to accept applicants with a combination of Level 3 qualifications. Please check your qualifications using UCAS Tariff calculator and remember we are looking for the equivalent of 3 A levels if you are combining Level 3 qualifications. AUB tailors its offers to the qualifications an applicant is studying and looks for applicant to be studying a relevant creative subject. AUB makes offers based on up to three A Levels or equivalent Level 3 qualifications with the most UCAS Tariff points attached to them to give applicants the best chance possible at achieving our required tariff (120 UCAS Tariff points in most cases).

Additional fee information

Please note that subject to the relevant legislation being passed in parliament, the UK Government have proposed tuition fees for the 2025/26 academic year of £9535 per annum. If you’re unsure about this optional placement, you don’t need to decide now.
